‘The Protector’ Spirit of the Forest

This piece took 2 years to complete.. And he turned out to be a love letter to my inner child. Inspired by both the Celtic god Cernunnos and the Greek god Pan, but of my own imagination. And the muse has given him a personality all his own. I named him “The Protector”. An old and wise spirit from the forest. A kind protector of children and other innocents. Innocents being all the creatures in and from the forest, and the forest itself…

…I have found myself much more inspired by nature and the beauty, comfort, mystery, and magic of the woodlands that surround my current home. I imagined this being coming down from the woodland trails around my house (photos below), to offer comfort, protection, solace and care. To offer comfort to an ever-healing heart. The heart of my inner child. 2025-2026 has been a lot for me, as for many of us. So many triggers and reminders in the news of the ugliness, abuses, and injustices of this human world & society.
